HOW DO I GET AN OFFER FOR MY CAR?
All you have to do is to bring your car, truck or SUV to our Courtesy Dealerships to have it appraised. This process takes about 30-40 minutes and we will give you an offer that will be good for 7 days. If you have had your car, truck or SUV appraised at CarMax® or any other dealership, bring your written written appraisal and Courtesy will offer you more for your car! WHAT HAPPENS IF WHAT I OWE ON MY CAR IS MORE THAN THE APPRAISAL OFFER?
If what you owe on your car, truck or SUV is more than what your vehicle is appraised for, the difference is called "negative equity". For example, if you owe $12,000 on your car and it appraises for $10,000, your have $2,000 of negative equity. But don't worry, in some cases, your negative equity can be included in your financing when you buy your next car. If not, we will calculate the difference between your pay-off amount and your appraisal and you can pay the difference. And remember, the best way to determine if you have any negative equity in you car, truck or SUV is to bring it by for a complete appraisal.
WHAT IF I HAVE A LIEN ON MY CAR?
Should you have a lien on your car, we will have to contact your lien holder during business hours to get a 15-day payoff on your vehicle. In order for us to pay off any lien on your car, we will need to obtain the lien holder's name and contact information, the lien holder's account numbers, social security number and the name or names on the account. Should a lien that has been paid be listed on the vehicle's title, we will need both the title and the lien release from the lien holder in order to buy your car. WHAT IS A BANK DRAFT?
A bank draft is a check where a payment is guaranteed to be available by the issuing bank. This MUST be deposited and cannot be cashed. You should also know your bank's hold policy. For this reason, Courtesy Cars DOES NOT issue bank drafts and WE WILL WRITE YOU A CHECK! You can cash it, deposit it, or save it. This causes less confusion (and less of a headache) and shortens the amount of time for you to get the cash for your car, truck or SUV.
